Don't fear!UNiDAYS is an amazing site I discovered a couple of months ago.
It is associated with most of the main fashion retailers I like to visit and so I use it pretty often.
Basically, if you don't have an NUS card or your university isn't registered with NUS you can use this site in order to still get your student discount! :)

Simply sign up here to get your discounts!
Retailers involved include Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Republic, ASOS, Missguided, Dorothy Perkins, Topman, Accessorize, Cath Kidston, Urban Outfitters, Motel, Office and loads more!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-65478695006124144352013-02-13T07:33:00.000-08:002013-02-13T07:33:07.254-08:00Oh hello ASOS...So lately due to some annoying personal circumstances I've found myself moping about the house a lot... So naturally my instinct reaction to this is to spend a fortune and try to cheer myself up. It always works, not sure whether that's a good thing or not.
ASOS is just a permanent source of happiness for me and these little gems from the River Island section didn't fail to put a smile on my face!
(HINT: if you like something on the RI website always check ASOS for it before you buy because you can get student discount on ASOS but they don't do it in River Island!)
I was pining over this cute jumper ages ago in store but I didn't buy it then regretted it when it sold out in my local... only to find it on ASOS and IN THE SALE. Woop! Its so soft and cosy, yet quite delicate, I love it.

I just loved the print on this! I also like the fact that the material is quite thick so the risk of it blowing up and exposing my granny pants in this windy British climate is significantly reduced...
I just thought this was really versatile, it can be worn casually for a day time look but you can also dress it up with some heels, eyeliner and a skinny belt for going out for drinks. It's really comfortable too!

I should really stop spending money... oh well.
Yeah I like Adidas... plus Nike is too expensive. I have a feeling this buying sportwear thing is going to become a bit of an obsession because in my head I'm thinking 'Well I need it really...'.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-58091091359976717052013-02-13T04:59:00.001-08:002013-02-13T05:00:33.232-08:00Training has begun!Sorry for the long absence... again.
Last week I signed up to the Cardiff half marathon on October 6th 2013. I know that seems like a long way away but due to the shocking state of my fitness I feel like I'm going to need every second of the 8 months I have to train.
Yesterday was my first outdoor run... ever. And when I say run, I use the term loosely.
According to my Nike+ running app I managed 4.42km in 33.01 minutes. This is not good.
My plan for the next 8 months is to dramatically increase my fitness and turn into a running goddess who finds the 13.1 miles involved in a half marathon a doddle. I actually had a dream last night that I came first and got a special medal. I can dream though right?
I just really wanna do well. I'm quite a competitive person and not performing to the top of my ability does not bode well for me. Another reason I'm so keen to get stuck in is that I'm raising money for Breast Cancer Care (if you'd like to sponsor me please click here), as my mum has suffered from breast cancer twice, and is due to go in for a third operation to fix some complications that occurred last time she was ill.
On the whole I do feel like my training has gotten off to a good start. As well as raising money and boosting my fitness I hope to see a significant change in my body also, as I definitely feel like I've let my figure go slightly over the past couple of years. After weighing on Monday I'm under 10 stone for the first time in 2 years which is just fantastic to see results so quickly! I have been doing some light weight training as well in the hope that I'll be looking like a beach babe with a six pack in the near future... we'll see.
At the moment I'm hobbling around the house in agony as my body just isn't used to actually moving so much throughout the day. I just had to slide down the bannister while dragging my feeble limbs behind me as the stairs were just too much.
Anyway wish me luck with my training! I will try and keep my activities posted here, at the very least it will give me some motivation to continue :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-36351430552501693892012-09-25T15:18:00.000-07:002012-09-25T15:18:34.827-07:00So I did a little shopping...So my student loan came in, and much to the dismay of the government and my parents, instead of spending it on books and stationary (which I've already bought) I decided to spend it on clothes. Whatever, I need to look good to go to uni, right? Here's what I bought:
I also got looooads of lovely soft knitwear from Primark but unfortunately they don't have a website so I can't show you :( but these were the main bulk of my trip and I absolutely LOVE them all. Can't wait for it to get a bit colder so I can start layering up and getting cosy in my new knitwear!
Thanks guys! :DAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-89118332576788057942012-09-21T13:05:00.000-07:002012-09-21T13:08:23.909-07:00My Summer, In a NutshellSo as you can see I haven't exactly been that active on here over the summer, so I suppose I should offer some sort of explanation. I can put this mainly down to working ridiculous amounts of overtime other than my regular weekend shift, and being otherwise generally lazy. Butttt, I did go on 2 pretty awesome holidays too :)
My boyfriend's sister got married in August on the beautiful Greek island of Rhodes, in a tiny little chapel at St Paul's Bay. It was absolutely gorgeous (although I think I lost a good percentage of my body weight through sweating), and everyone who attended had a fabulous day. I had the honour of doing a reading during the ceremony and also being the witness and signing the wedding register.
The reception was held in a 5 star hotel up the coast which we reached by boat. The food was amazing, feta with sesame seeds to start, followed by slow roasted lamb and strawberry panacotta. Of course I couldn't quite resist when the veil was doing the rounds...
To top things off, on the way home everyone got a free bottle of champers and a box of Thorntons. What more could a girl ask for?
(FYI, drinking a bottle of champagne to yourself at high altitudes results in considerably tipsiness).
And then we saw Alice Cooper, looking rather worse for wear, on our way out of Birmingham airport. Cool right?

Holiday number 2 has considerably less photos, but was amazing none the
less. I flew out alone to Palma airport due to work, and met my family
over there, in a quirky little 3 bedroom townhouse in Palmanova,
Majorca. It was lovely but very odd, it kinda felt like I had pushed the
owners out of their house for a week, as it was full of personal
portraits and family heirlooms. It was charming, to say the least.
By far my favourite day of the whole holiday was the day trip to Palma. Not only is it a breathtakingly beautiful city, with the old castle and traditional architecture, there is just something about it that feel so... chic. The shopping was fantastic to start with. It holds the best Zara store I have ever been in. Not the biggest, but I felt the clothes were a lot more luxe and just generally nicer than in the stores in the UK. Everything about it was just so pretty, I didn't even care about the Louis Vitton staff giving me the "you can't afford anything in here" stare. We also visited the market, which was full of the bright colours and hustle and bustle that I've come to expect of these foreign food markets. You just don't get that kind of enthusiasm about food in the UK. The fruit and vegetables are all too uniform in shape and drab in colour. My local market boasts about 5 customers a day and smells like dog food. It's just not the same.
Another highlight of the trip (well, sort of) was the ridiculous thunderstorm we had the day before we left. One minute it was 30 degrees plus, everyone sunbathing topless on the beach, the next minute thunder was rattling the building and I couldn't see two meters out of the window because the rain was coming down so hard. It was very shocking and kinda exciting. And I was just really glad to be indoors once I saw a group of girls scurrying past absolutely drenched to the skin. But then, a huge rainbow erupted and there was calm :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-51104655928249679092012-09-21T10:27:00.001-07:002012-09-21T13:09:02.525-07:00WIN £100 ASOS giftcard with UnidaysUnidays are currently doing a Facebook competition to win a £100 gift voucher for ASOS! :)
I am loving Unidays lately. Not only do they take away the need for entering your NUS card number every time you shop, but it's also available to students who's universities aren't members of NUS. They're adding more and more partners and increased discounts every day at the moment so I'd sign up quickly if I were you!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-83943910739046881652012-09-21T10:11:00.001-07:002012-09-21T13:10:01.259-07:00Having a minor crisis hereI am all of a sudden getting all panicky about my future and what career prospects are ahead of me.
This has all be triggered by a recent blow to my boyfriend's life- getting made redundant. It's been so hard helping him to job hunt and I can just tell it's really getting him down and I can't help but freak out a little and think 'Ahh! I don't want this to happen to me when I come out of uni!'. I'd always just kinda presumed I'd walk out of university with a first straight into some £70k a year investment banking job, but obviously life is never that kind.
I'm currently doing an economics degree in Cardiff university, so if I come out with good grades I guess my prospects look good enough. But what scares me is the fact that there are so many people who are bigger and better than me doing the exact same thing. There is just SO much competition. I need something to help me stand out from the rest, but what? Learn a new language? Do a bunch of courses? Try and get an internship? Of course in a perfect world I'd do all of the above, but my unfortunate geographical location, along with the fact that there is neither enough time nor money in my week, is holding me back.
I somehow need to secure some relevant work experience, but living in a city which has 50% of its shop windows boarded up, while the other 50% consists of charity shops and betting shops is rather easier said that done.
Another spanner in the works is the fact that I have absolutely no idea what career path I want to go down. It's gonna be pretty tricky to find work experience when I've no bloody clue where to look.
So here I am, trawling Google, waiting for some perfect opportunity to slap me in the face and not feeling particularly successful.
Meh.
Well if anyone could give me a hand and suggest any economics/finance/banking related opportunities for undergraduates during the holidays in the South Wales area that would be fantastic.
Don't worry, I won't hold my breath.
I suppose I'd better get writing some begging letters!
Bye all :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-81530499755245879442012-09-19T15:00:00.001-07:002012-09-20T01:55:17.848-07:00Shopping cravingsSo I've been working a HELL of a lot lately and so at the end of the month I'm expecting a rather tasty pay slip!
First thing I'm going to do is head to Cardiff to buy everything I see and eat something greasy and expensive. I may not be able to carry it all, like seriously, there's going to be a lot.
I plan on doing some sort of haul post/video so stay tuned for that, it'll be a big one.

Here's a few things I plan on picking up...
Unfortunately (for you guys, not me) my summer has just been jam packed with too much cool stuff to have had any time to post, but on the plus side it has left me with LOTS of material to write about :) So expect some frequent posts from now on, especially since I start uni again soon and will need an outlet for procrastination.

So basically, sorry for being rubbish, I will make it up to you! :DAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-85320258413167128052012-06-15T09:41:00.000-07:002012-09-20T01:53:56.842-07:00Body Shop Product ReviewSo I have been obsessing over the Body Shop lately. They really have some gorgeous products, they smell amazing, contain natural ingredients and come from a company who are very dedicated to making sure their products are environmentally friendly, are never tested on animals and are fair trade.
So of course I just had to have a little splurge on their website, which was helped along considerably by a 40% off code that I got through their email newsletter (enter SHOP40 in the promotional code box at the checkout if you want to take advantage of this too) meaning I got quite a few lovely bargains! There is more to be had at the moment as their 50% sale starts today too :)

Mango Lip Butter, £4

First thing I have to say about this is that it smells AMAZING! It has a very strong mango scent and tastes pretty good on your lips too, it took all my willpower not to just lick it off every time I applied it. Like I just want to spread it on toast and eat it, so good.
One thing I would say is that due to the quite small pot I sometimes found it a little difficult to get out, and its quite firm so you need to warm it up a bit if you want to get a decent amount on your lips. Other than that though I really like this product, it doesn't feel greasy on your lips and makes them feel lovely and soft and moisturised afterwards.
I was making my way through this but then I lost it on a night out :( weep! Will definitely be purchasing another one though, I may even sample a different flavour this time.

Macadamia Straightening Balm, £7

This product is for reducing frizz when straightening and provides a little heat protection too. One thing I really love about this is the smell, its not too strong but really does smell gorgeous when you're running it through your hair.
As my hair is getting really long now, I do suffer a little from a slightly frizziness on the ends of my hair due to them becoming a bit fly-away and split. This product helped a little with this, smoothing them out, and any heat protection is a bonus as I often blow dry and straighten my hair.
I can't particularly comment on if this product would be good for making the straightening process for curly hair easier as my hair is pretty straight as it is, but according to the reviews on the Body Shop site it does help, leaving it straighter for longer.
I don't personally think I would buy this balm again as apart from the smell I thought it was fairly average and the same effect could be achieved for a lower price. Again, I can't comment on the performance on curly hair but I think it would be more impressive than what I experienced.

Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream, £10

I bought this product because I was really impressed with the Vitamin E cleanser and Vitamin E toner I received as a gift a few Christmases ago and thought I'd try out some other products from the range.
It has a lovely delicate scent that I usually associate with baby stuff, its nice and fresh and not too harsh for my sensitive skin. The cream itself is very rich and thick which is perfect for a night cream as you can let it soak in while you sleep. You really only need a tiny amount so I think the tub is going to last me ages which is great.
The first time I applied it, the next day I had turned out a bit spotty which I thought may be due to the richness of the cream so the next night I put on a lighter layer and I haven't had the same problem since.
Overall I am very impressed with this cream, especially as I tend to have very dry skin, it has really helped with the dry patches around my mouth and has made it lovely and soft. Would buy again!

Vitamin E Eye Cream, £9.50

I suffer from milia (otherwise known as milk spots) around my eye area and all my research to the cause of them has led to mainly the fact that I use the same cream I use on my face around my eye area too. Apparently face cream can be too rich and thick for the delicate eye skin causing protein build up around the area. So I purchased this cream to go with my night cream and I actually really like it.
At first I was a little disappointed when I opened the package as the tube was really small. Upon using it however I've realised that you really do just need the tiniest bit to give nice even coverage around your eyes and so even the small tube will last a long time. It is nice and light and gives a nice fresh feeling to the area upon application. It did sting slightly the first time I applied it but since then I haven't felt that at all. You apply once in the morning and once before bed, and I find it makes a nice base for my eye makeup also.
It has the same fresh scent as the night cream and has left my eye area lovely and soft and moisturised, especially as I sometimes suffer from dry skin here.
Another great product, would definitely buy again!

Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue, £9

I have gross feet. Like seriously, my boyfriend goes mad if I put them anywhere near him. My mum's are the same, we both suffer with really dry cracked heels, maybe it's hereditary? I don't know, anyway I thought this cream would be a help. It has actually done pretty well so far. It has a lovely thick, rich consistency and a quite strong pepperminty scent. What I have been doing is slathering my feet in it and then putting on a pair of cotton socks and going to bed. When I wake up I have lovely smooth feet which smell sweet too! While I think this cream is a great short term remedy to my cracked heel problem, after a few days they just go back to normal and I have to start slathering again. So yeah I think I'd buy it again, I plan on using it every day to get beach worthy feet for my holidays!
Extra Virgin Minerals™ Loose Powder Foundation, £15

Being quite pale with fairly sensitive skin I often find liquid foundations far too heavy for me and sit on top of my skin and look very visible so I tend to stick with powders to just give my skin a bit of a glow.
This foundation did exactly what I wanted it to. The coverage isn't brilliant but I didn't want it to be, it just evens out my skin tone nicely and gives me a bit of colour while ensuring my face stays matte and non-greasy. I really liked this, and, especially with my voucher, the price wasn't too bad either. The mineral formulation was an added bonus, as when I wear makeup I like to feel like my skin can breathe, and this was not too heavy. In fact it didn't feel like I was wearing makeup at all.
Only downside is that the pot is quite small and I've noticed I have been using more of it than other powders I've had recently so I'm not sure how long it will last.
All in all, a very good purchase, I would buy it again!

Vitamin C Microdermabrasion, £12

I loooove this! As I often get dry skin on my face I have to make sure I exfoliate regularly to make sure I don't get flaky and dull. This is quite rough but I like that, it has a lot of little beads in it to really give your face a good scrub. Probably wouldn't be ideal for those with very sensitive skin as I guess it could be quite harsh but I like it, the roughness makes me feel like its doing its job properly. You only need a tiny bit so it will go pretty far too. It says on the back that it recommends you only use it twice a week otherwise I presume it would make your face a bit sore, but I've been using it every other day since I bought it. It makes my skin lovely and smooth after use, and unlike a lot of other facial exfoliators, doesn't dry out my skin or make it feel tight after use.
Would definitely buy again, one of the best facial scrubs I have used.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-81822711680142891242012-06-07T12:51:00.000-07:002012-06-07T12:51:35.777-07:00I need a cameraBrowsing through all the wonderful blogs I subscribe to, I have come to the conclusion that there is something missing from my life: a DSLR camera. I think one will have to be my next big purchase. Eventhough I don't currently take that many artistic photos, I think this is mainly due to the fact I tried but they just looked beyond crap on my middle-of-the-road digital number.
Of course, the thing that is holding me back at the moment is the weep-worthy price that my 16 hours a week at a DIY shop wage isn't quite going to stretch to. I may have to beg or steal... or maybe sell my body or something. Although I'd probably end up in debt.
So I plan on saving up so I can share some lovely photos of my antics to share with you all :)
I would appreciate some advice though, being new to the world of photography I'm not 100% on the kind of equipment I should get for my beginner requirements... So ya let me know :)
Thanks guys!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833523785317044687.post-42102840519537247102012-06-06T14:27:00.001-07:002012-06-07T12:52:57.169-07:00Current Obsession: Crop TopsSince summer is here (apparently) the high street has been flooded with crop top of all shapes and patterns, and although I don't (yet) have the rock hard abs and perfectly flat stomach necessary to wear one without looking rather wobbly, that doesn't mean I haven't bought about 7 of them!

Like I said, it is a rather tricky trend to pull off, but if you've got it this is definitely a way to flaunt it.

Welcome to my blog, this is my very first post, as I'm sure you've realised :)
Basically I think the point of this blog is to express myself, and to share with everyone the stuff that makes me happiest in life! Namely food, fashion, beauty, photography, literature and film, and my take on the whole thing.

I have been meaning to start this blog for a long time but have not been able to, due to a variety of reasons, mainly university based. But now, my exams are over and I think I've just found myself a project for the summer :)

Check back for more, I'm sure my posts will be frequent!

I hope you enjoy reading as much as I'm sure I will enjoy writing.

Thanks all :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04321347019565329266noreply@blogger.com0
